    Default Real Time Strategy

I've seen many posts relating to FPS and Racing titles, but very little about RTS.

Last week was devoted mainly to Need for Speed Underground (had to make sure I would fare OK against the likes of REDBEARD and Revilo at our LAN).

After that I spent some time playing Halo and believe it or not, some Doom 1 and 2 (using ZDoomGL to make it 'feel' a bit more modern).

Right now, I'm very much in the mood to spend some time playing some RTS. The problem is that I've played most of my RTS titles broken ...

The next best thing (if one does not actually play a game) is to either talk about games or read about them.
Tom's Hardware site featured a preview of Rome : Total War. This is the one I must get !

What will bake your noodle is that you will see these effects while there are as many as 10,000 troops on screen all running their own independent A.I. scripts. Compare that to the cramped corridors of Doom III where you saw a max of perhaps six opponents on screen at once.
Anyone else on the forum into RTS ? If so, can you recommend any of the newer RTS titles before I do something silly like play Doom3 again :?:

    Default RTS blues

    You checked out Warhammer 40K?

Buddy of mine plays this role-playing-style (i.e with models, dice and beer).

The real life models for this game look fantastic, usually the players are fanatical artistic types that paint up their own models (which stand about 3-4cm tall).

Here is a design diary on the game at a site called "EuroGamer". The site looks quite slick, if not little fruity and european, but I know how you gamers like your purty colours.

The site is another good resource for PC game information, I think I like it more than american sites.

    Default Another Warhammer link

I believe this is still in development but should be cool when it arrives. There's a whole community that love this thing!!
