yeah there really is no point to justify going faster that 384k... as u hit ur cap vfast with anything faster than that...

but 1 day... it will happen... even if i download 1 movie on my deathbed @ 500kb+ speeds i'll be happy

I really don't have pains about the speed (512) - but I do have a major issue with the 3Gb cap. Maybe I presume incorrectly that it is in fact a lot easier for Telkom to organise a larger cap than higher speed ADSL ?

If they would just be prepared to move the cap up to, say, 5Gb for 1 month as an experiment, a lot can be learned from what happens during that month.
Let's face it, a lot of businesses and home users don't crash their cap in any event, so maybe it won't be entirely crippling to Telkom to grant us an extra 2Gb ?

They remind me more and more of the schoolyard bully as time goes by. As soon as someone makes a plan to allow people more cap, Telkom come along and smack them down. Downright unfair business practise.

That offer sounds great, but if its a 3gig Cap than it doesn`t make any difference!

    From the telkom website...

    To awnser your question Rock...

I heard from a trusted person who works closely with Telkom, the real problem lies with the underwater cable that runs from CApetown up to America, it costs millions to keep the caple in a good condition and the cables limit has been reached as I understand... this could be bolly !

Yes Titan that could be the case, but, from what i have heard is that telkom owns the internet pipeline that runs on the west coast of africa, and we th patriotic South Africans only get (I stand to be corrected) 9% of that bandwidth even though we as taxpayers or telscum users paid for it!
