Default What setup would you recommend!?

OK, what AV, Anti Spyware , Anti Ad-Aware do you use!? I would like to know, cause I would like a comfy setup on my PC... I will list what I use, and I would like to see what you guy's list... And then after that, I would decide what sounds the best! There is a similar thread, but I dont think it has the same message to it... Click

    Anti Virus
    AVG Free Edition

    Anti Spyware
    XoftSpy
    Spybot Search & Destroy
    Microsoft Anti Spyware

    Add-Aware

I use a Combo of McAfee Firewall and Norton 06, its pretty effective in preventing trouble. Haven’t had any problems so I guess it works well!

AdAware is pretty good if you are already in trouble!
    Just my opinion

We've used AVG along with ZoneAlarm (firewall) at home for about 2 years and haven't found any problems of a virus or intrusive kind.

Is Zone Alarm's firewall easy to use!? Is it like a Firewall or like AVG with a cheap as firewall! (If I say Firewall, I mean a alone standing firewall, not a AV or AS programme with a firewall)...

the problem that i found with zone alarm is that yes it does a good job at firewalling but when it wants something theres nothing to stop it from getting it and it sends packets every 25 seconds to some site i still have not found out what it's sending but i don't like anything that sends packet and a firewall does not stop it.

I can be liking to be using ZoneAlarm as my Firewall and Avast! as my Anti-Virus... I do not use Anti-Spyware apps because it screws around too much...

man ... im sick and tired of resource hungy vscanners and firewalls. my best by far is nod32 - firewall - i get my BSD server to handle that - seems to do the trick - nod32 also uses just under 15mb ram - and picks up most if not all spyware - love it!

but as far as easy to use personel firewall - kerio is awesome, sygate is a little harder - and zone alarm free edition is balls - just an opinion

The problem with Kerio is if you are at a lan, then no one can leach files from you, because the FW kicks them... SO, then you have to disable, they leach, then enable again! Same with creating a game... No one can join when it's enabled!

Hmmm... I hear what you folks say about ZoneAlarm. It may not be the most powerful tool. However, Sygate was horrible to set up and I gave up after 3 days. Zone Alarm was far easier to set up and I haven't seen any signs of breaches so far.

Essentially, stronger safety would mean a dedicated gateway using Linux or BSD, or a hardware solution (switch/router, I suppose).

heh, perhaps I'm a tad too paranoid about posting my defence details but I'm always afraid some cracker might use it to his advantage. (yeah yeah, I'm flatout accusing you Zizzy! )

    Firewall:
    NForce 4 Mobo Onboard Firewall

    Anti SpyWare:
    Ad-Aware
    Spybot Search & Destroy

EDIT: I want to add that with the nForce 4 mobo firewall I have had the least amount of trouble setting up a firewall. Its extremely easy to setup and from what I gather, quite good. I have used all of the above Firewalls at one stage.

What we have here is a failure to coagulate...
