    Default Optimized Firefox builds

    I will test these out today:

    "M3 builds are highly optimized Firefox builds that also contain code optimized for the SSE2 instruction set. Given the nature of M3 builds, they are designed only for the following processors:

    * AMD Opteron
    * AMD Athlon FX
    * AMD Athlon 64
    * Intel Xeon
    * Intel Pentium M
    * Intel Pentium 4
    * Intel Celeron (1.7GHz and higher)

    M2 builds are highly optimized Firefox builds that also contain code optimized for the SSE instruction set. Given the nature M2 builds, they are designed only for the following processors that support SSE:

    * AMD Athlon XP
    * AMD Athlon MP
    * AMD Sempron (2200+ - 2800+)
    * AMD Duron (1.0GHz - 1.8GHz)
    * Intel Pentium 3
    * Intel Celeron (533MHz - 1.4GHz)

    M1 builds are generally optimized Firefox builds that also contain code optimized for the MMX instruction set. M1 builds are targeted for the following processors:

    * AMD Athlon
    * AMD K6-2
    * Intel Pentium 2
    * Intel Pentium

    I am getting the m3 version now to see how it is.

    Firefox has become my favourite (only) browser. Last night I fired up IE in a moment of weakness, just to have my anti-spyware programs complain about no less than 13 critical infestations shortly thereafter.

    Floruro, please post your findings about those Firefox versions - I'm quite keen to find out what the optimisations are all about.

    I do not become a fanboy very easily, but I am tempted to start badgering some sites to pay more attention to Firefox - it must surely be in their interest to establish compatibility with this rising star.

    I find it very good. Just download the package (e.g. M3 if you have P4 or AMD 64 etc), and extract and replace the firefox files you have already with the ones you downloaded. Or if you dont have firefox, just extract to a directory and run firefox.exe.
    Its looks exactly the same as normal firefox (expect for a little icon), but its nice to know it uses the multimedia extensions you bought your expensive cpu for :05:
