    Icon10 TimeShift

In TimeShift you play a character that fights in a suit that can control time, you can slow down time (as in FEAR), stop time and reverse time. All while being able to manipulate the environment. Certain tasks needs to be thought through as you need do tasks in a certain "order" to gain access to your target. Its really nice actually, breaks the shooting up for a nice little session of puzzle solving, but dont worry, if I can solve them without a walkthru, so can you!

The cinematics are simply amazing, pity tho they are so few and far but contributes to the story.

In the graphics dept. TimeShift looks very purdy, even on my aging GeForce 7800 GTX. I had that depth view thingy on and it felt very realistic, if I can use that term. It looked impressive when outdoors and your vision would blur at far of objects. The game also use the now standard physics as you can knock around stuff. Funny how quick we became used to physics.

You carry an assortment of weapons, from an submachine gun, to sniper rifles (my fav), exploding crossbows, rocket launchers, flamethrowers, machineguns and grens.
A nice combo would be if you find about 4 enemy grunts, crouch, aim at the first, stop time, fire 4 rapid headshots at all four terrs and watch them take a hit at the same time as time resumes its normal ticking!! (saddistic giggle)

IF you liked FEAR, I'd say give the game a bash, its not as dark and creepy as FEAR but its lotsa fun. Not sure why, but the game reminds me of Gears Of War as well, might be the exploding crossbow or the fighting from cover to cover at times.

Funny, another one goes by quietly. My buddy, iceman, bought this game and raved about it. At the time, I think I was playing Crysis so never checked it out. Then I had a PC hiatus after my 780i board choked. Thanks for the review, VF! I hope buddha sees this, he was looking for a new SP game.

I still haven't thought much of this game. Must say it's a boost if your a FEAR fan. Just think that fear put me on edge a lot more than timeshift. Maybe i should reinstall it again & give a better second review. Fear & fear extraction point was awesome!

I'm wondering if there's going to be another Half-life since I enjoyed Half-life 2 so much. Just don't want to install it again since I don't have a proper phone line at home. Also just using my phone to update my anti-virus.

I haven't heard of this game before... But yeah, I don't think it's my type of game... If I see it around, I will have a look at it!

And congrats, I think this is the first stamped thread.

OK OK! I'm going home to reinstall it tonight. Didn't think the game looked that great & only played it for a short while. But with those graphics I think I MUST install it.

My supportive rating from awhile back. http://www.pcbuyersguide.co.za/showp...1&postcount=16

I played it on 'regular', a sign of old age I guess , but the AI abilities are pretty close to 'nightmare' and you're forced to use your macho suit's timeshifting properties (slow down, freeze or reverse time) to get through. There are also quite a few 'situations' requiring time manipulation without which, you're not going any further. Needless to say, I died a LOT until I could figure out the best way to use the timeshifting in given situations, or just because I forgot them in the heat of battle.

Unlike the big-hype games, Timeshift is a good length, giving plenty of time to get into the mood and a game that makes you want the wife to get an early night so you can get playing. Great graphics, good variable AI responses, some very cool weapons and loads of very satisfying, huge explosions. Gore is high and can sometimes be quite startling e.g. freeze time, run up to some AI and shoot him in the face with the shotgun, wait for time to start up again and ........ yuck!

    Highly recommended.
