Yo Zizzy. I've been very busy with family / home maintenance matters since Dec 08 so no, I haven't pushed anymore. With the current hot weather and heavy rains, my grass is growing like some experiment gone wrong! I have to cut twice a week and a single, thorough session takes 3 hours! I am very glad I bought a Honda 5.5hp 4-stroke mower as it makes the time cutting grass a pleasure. Then there's my pool as well so those two things alone take up a lot of my PC time! In truth, I am very happy with my current CPU clock: E8600 3.33GHz @ 4.25GHz stock volts 24/7. Now that's a very fast CPU for daily use (forget a QX9770) and even today where it's pretty warm, CPU_0 is at 35 and CPU_1 is at 32. It's also very close to the PCBG LAN again so I won't fiddle at all until at least after the LAN. RockSpider will moer me otherwise!

Bloody right you are ! On top of that I'll raffle off your PC and use the money to fund an Overclocking Rehabilitation Centre (ORC) for tough cases like you and Zizzy.

Razer, I'll tell you what : To keep you on the straight and narrow until after the LAN, I'll let you overclock my PC this weekend to see what you can squeeze out of her.

I think that 4.25GHz is a pretty good overclock for 24/7 and those temperatures are excellent.

Yes Rock that is a great overclock. It shows you how amazingly well the E8600 can OC. I could only push my E6850 from 3.0GHz to 3.551GHz for a 24/7 run. I could push it up higher, but it would fail with Prime95.

Here is the OC I did. I probably should have posted it here, but I thought it would be better off in a stickey thread.

Razer, have you ran a Prime95 test on your CPU? That is quite a monster overclock for stock voltage and cooling. Congratulations!

    Razer, bump on that Prime95..

What tests did you do to check for stability?

Games...lots of games. No voltage bump and low temps. Stress tested with games and 100% stable. All I need to know.

I can't take credit for achieving the OC...it's all in the board, plus the E8600 / E0 chip.

Hey Razer , are you leaving your voltage settings on auto ? or have you increased them with the minimum amount ie 0.025v ? The reason i ask is, if they are on auto the motherboard will give voltage according to what is needed , it might also be giving a liltle more than is needed. If you know of a way to leave volts at stock please let me know.

So far this board has been great to me , but this weekend while trying to overclock it a bit more , the bios got corrupted , seems to do this when i use 450 FSB + 8.5 multi , it happened twice at that setting , but i dont know exactly why it does this , it is however tricky to recover from this problem .

The board will dispaly an E9 error on its liltle lcd , and nothing on your computor screen.
So after reading up on the web i found that the E9 code means its trying to start up the Floppy drive and get your new BIOS file.

Here is the website i found a fix for this problem on and some more details with the step by step guide.

Note: 12345678.BIN represents the name of your BIOS.
    Step by Step:
    1. Rename the desired AMI BIOS file to AMIBOOT.ROM and save it on a blank floppy disk. e.g. Rename 12345678.ROM to AMIBOOT.ROM

    2. Insert this floppy disk in the floppy drive. Turn On the system
    3. If no floppy access occurs press and hold Ctrl-Home to force update. Follow insructions on the screen and it will read the AMIBOOT.ROM file and recover the BIOS from the A drive.

    4. When 4 beeps are heard you may remove the floppy disk.

    5. Restart the computer.

I tried using a USB stick with this but it didnt work , it did however work with a floppy i salvaged form the office.

Hope this helps one of you guys.

So im stuck below 450 fsb now atleast prime 95 stable.

Nice, thanks for posting that. Since playing Far Cry 2 with all its BSOD's and CTD's, I returned all my settings to default - to no avail of course. I normally don't push the boundaries and have always been happy with 425FSB and a 10x multi.

I know Razer @ me use the Thermalright coolers.

My E8500 clocked at 3.2Ghz as a standard it runs under 28 degrees all the time. I know I've Over Clocked it once or twice to 4Ghz at very stable with only reaching temps of 36 degrees.
