So I've been desperately looking for a socket 775 mobo for the last month, mainly cruising around on the carbonite forums. Absolutely no luck. Either the boards are bottom of the bottom end (Ie don't even have 4 ram slots), or they get snapped up in a matter of minutes.
This is basically a plea to anyone out there to help me find a 775 board for a Q6600, needs 4 slots for DDR2 Ram, and onboard lan, sound, etc. If nobody here has one lying around, do you think I can approach retailers? Any other ideas?
Socket 775 mobo - what the heck?!

I've got one for you, where are you located? I am going to force you to take my ddr2 ram as well if you want it though.

Hey Recho, I'm in Durban, I'd love to take it. I have 4x1gb ram, but ram's not expensive so no worries either way. You will make my day if we can work this out.

You are one lucky guy. There are no more new 4xram slot 775 boards from any retailers in SA.

Yeah I know. Really strange, I actually managed to secure two on the same day. But dropped the one and going with Recho who has been awesome in helping with this.

You do realise socket 775 boards have been end of life for quite some time now right?

I do, yes. It's just strange to me that there are lots of offers for 775 based processors, but almost no available boards. I guess that would indicate that the boards are failing quicker than the cpu's.

Just to say that Recho totally came through. Thanks man. I haven't had a chance to install the board yet but really awesome of him to basically donate his old board, cpu and ram.
Huge relief after looking for a board for a couple of months. In that I can't be a part of the LAN crowd in jhb, it makes me really appreciate the community we have here!
